How matching with your partner actually works is easy to say and vague to picture: swipe on what you both like. This is what actually happens, step by step.
You send your partner an invite using their email address. Once they accept, you're linked, and from then on you each swipe independently on your own phone. Any title you both swiped right on appears in a shared list marked as ready to watch together, separate from titles only one of you liked.
You enter your partner's email address and send a request. If they already have an account, you're linked as soon as they accept it. Nothing is shared automatically before that, the request has to be accepted on their side first.
There's no shared screen and no taking turns. You each go through your own pile on your own phone, at your own pace, and neither of you sees the other's swipes as they happen. That's deliberate: seeing a partner's answer before giving your own tends to influence it, whether either of you means for that to happen or not.
Anything you've both swiped right on shows up in a shared section of your watchlist, marked as ready to watch together, distinct from what's only on one of your lists. That's the list you actually pick from on a given evening, since everything in it is something neither of you has to be talked into.
It doesn't merge your two taste profiles into one average. Each of you keeps your own history and your own recommendations, so watching alone still works the way it always did. The joint list is an overlap of two separate profiles, not a blended third one.
Enter their email address in the add partner screen. If they already have the app, they'll get a request they need to accept before you're linked.
No, not while you're swiping. Only after you've both independently swiped on the same title does it become visible that you matched.
