JustWatch tells you where a title is streaming. What's My Next helps you pick one

Looking for a JustWatch alternative usually means one of two things. Either the app itself annoys you, or you've realised it answers a different question than the one you have. JustWatch is excellent at "where can I watch this?". It does much less for "what should we watch tonight?".

If you already know the title and want to know where it streams, stay with JustWatch: it covers more than 4,500 providers worldwide. If you open it and then scroll for twenty minutes without choosing, try What's My Next. You swipe through titles that are already filtered to your services, it learns your taste as you go, and two people can swipe separately and see what they both picked.

What JustWatch is built for

JustWatch is a search engine for streaming. You type a title, it shows every legal place to watch it: subscription, free with ads, rent or buy. It covers more than 90,000 movies and shows across over 4,500 providers, lists what's new on your services, tracks price drops, and keeps a watchlist that alerts you when a title lands on a service you have. It has been doing this since 2015 and it does it well.

What it doesn't do is make the choice for you. Its discovery is lists: popular, new, filtered by genre or year. You still have to pick from a very long grid, and if two people are deciding, you're back to passing one phone around.

Where What's My Next is different

What's My Next starts from the decision. You tell it once which services you pay for and where you live. Then you swipe: right for your watchlist, left to skip, up for already seen. Every swipe teaches it a bit more about your taste, so the next titles fit better than a popularity list would.

If you watch with a partner or family, each person swipes on their own phone, and the titles you all said yes to show up as matches. When you've picked one, a single tap opens it in the right streaming app.

Where JustWatch is still ahead

Coverage. JustWatch knows rentals, purchases, free channels and thousands of small providers. What's My Next focuses on the main subscription services in each country, so if you rent a lot or use niche services, JustWatch will find things we won't.

It also works on the web and on TVs, and has years of data behind it. What's My Next is a phone app, newer and smaller.

Using both

They don't really compete. Plenty of people will use JustWatch to check where a specific film is, and What's My Next on the evenings when nobody knows what they want. If you only ever need one, pick by the question you ask most: "where is it?" or "what should we watch?".

How we checked

We make What's My Next. The JustWatch figures come from its own App Store page and justwatch.com, checked on 26 October 2026.

Questions people ask

Is there an app like JustWatch that helps you decide?

Yes. What's My Next uses the same idea of filtering by your services, but turns it into swiping: it learns what you like and shows titles that fit, instead of a long list to choose from.

Can two people use JustWatch together?

You can share lists, but there's no matching. What's My Next lets each person swipe on their own phone and shows the titles you both liked.

Which one has more streaming services?

JustWatch, by a wide margin, including rentals and purchases. What's My Next covers the main subscription services per country, such as Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max and Apple TV+.

Is What's My Next free?

Yes, free on iPhone and Android, with no ads. There is an optional Pro subscription for extras.
